Bruin moved to Vermont in January of 2014 from Oakland, California, leaving behind year-round sunshine and a thriving private practice for real seasons and a dream of practicing and living in a smaller, friendlier setting. His practice focuses on somatic and cranial sacral therapy; he has trained with numerous teachers—including Generative Somatics, Staci Haines, Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Wendy Palmer, Embodiment International, Upledger Institute and the McKinnon Institute—over the last seven years.
Bruin was a seasoned community organizer when his deep interest in trauma’s effect on the body and sustainable strategies to healing led him to somatics and cranial sacral therapy. In a world that is often oriented to quick fixes and pathology (i.e. what’s wrong with you?), somatics and cranial sacral therapy are more about listening and figuring out what’s not working and what skills you want to build for a better life.
